MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner had no small task in the opening event of the twelfth annual Faulkner Invitational when it pitted itself against one of the nation's best in Lindsey Wilson. Faulkner started off strong, but ultimately succumbed to the potent Blue Raider offense 25-19, 25-16, 25-14.
The Lady Eagles were hungry early, but five serving errors in the opening set really took in the six point loss.
Faulkner wasn't the same in subsequent sets. As the visitors gained speed and rhythm, Faulkner struggled to connect the dots.
Sarah Anderson led the way for Lindsey Wilson with 10 kills, hitting .563.
Brittnay Renfroe put down seven kills for Faulkner, hitting .417, and added a block.
Taylor Dollison matched Renfroe's kill total and had four total blocks.
Faulkner will take on Southeastern University in round two of the tournament tonight at 7 p.m.
