MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner volleyball hosted Birmingham Southern and Berry College in a spring scrimmage tri-match Saturday afternoon at Tine Davis Gym. The Lady Eagles swept both opponents and won five of seven sets on the afternoon.
Faulkner took out Berry in straight sets to start the day. Brittnay Renfroe was a beast at the net with 11 kills hitting a staggering .667.
Kelsey Bell put on a performance for the home team logging nine digs, eight kills, and five service aces.
Autum Benson followed with six kills and Shelby Woods added four.
Lindsey Ortner carried the defense with 14 digs and had five service aces.
KK Lo fed the offense with 32 assists and Morgan Wilson had 26.
Faulkner knocked off Birmingham Southern in straight sets as well, but the two teams chose to maximize play time and extended the event to a full five sets. The Panthers took sets four and five.
Renfroe put on another outstanding display with 12 kills, hitting .400, and had three total blocks.
Bell had 19 digs, 14 kills and three aces for the best all around effort on the floor.
Woods had eight kills and four total blocks and Ariel Riley had six hills, three total blocks and four digs.
Benson hit .235 over five sets and had six kills.
Ortner anchored the defense in game two as well and had 25 digs and five aces.
Wilson finished the event with 26 assists and Lo added 20.
The tri-match brings a close to the spring season for Faulkner. The Lady Eagles will be back in action with a new recruit class in the fall. The team opens the season on August 31 in the Millsaps tournament in Jackson, Miss. Opponents and times have yet to be announced.
