MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After spending six weeks as the nation's top team, Faulkner has slipped to No. 2 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll the home office announced this afternoon. Oklahoma City assumed the vacancy atop the list marking the first new No. 1 team since the first regular season poll was released in early March.
The Stars hold a 40-5 record and were aided into the top slot after Faulkner dropped four of its last seven games.
The Eagles have won three straight outings since their last loss, however, and currently sit at 39-8 on the year.
Faulkner defeated Talladega 10-1 at home Tuesday evening and will next take on No. 23 William Carey in the final home series of the season this weekend. The Eagles host the Crusaders in a single nine-inning Southern States Athletic Conference game Friday evening at 6 followed by a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
