MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner hosted No. 10 Belhaven in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup at John Mark Stallings Field Tuesday evening. The Blazers stuck just before the half and twice more in the second period to claim the 3-0 win. It was Faulkner's final home event of the season.
The Blazers' first goal came in the 44th minute when Philip Foresman slipped a rebounded ball by the keeper on an Alex Rodriguez free kick.
The visitors fired again three minutes into the second period when Guilherme Brandao went in unassisted.
Johnny Saye tallied the final goal in the 77th minute off a Filipe Ferreira feed.
The Blazers were consistent on the evening offering 13 shots in each half. Faulkner improved as the game progressed putting up just four shots in the first half compared to nine in the second. The teams put 17 and eight shots on frame respectively.
Austin White was in goal for the Eagles and secured 11 saves and allowed three goals in the loss.
Seven seniors were honored in a special pre-game ceremony last night. Austin White, Roan Brown, Milorad Pasic, Wilfred Mitchell, Joe Hastings, Rob Cooke and Esolam Kpemoua went on to play in their final home event of their careers.
Brown proposed to his girlfriend during the celebration and the newly engaged couple was immediately swarmed by excited friends and teammates.
Faulkner drops to 4-11-1 overall and 2-9 in the league. The Eagles will close the season on Saturday when they travel to cross-town rival Auburn Montgomery for a final showdown at 2 p.m.
